Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Essie completed a Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Occupational Therapy at Charles Darwin University. She has experience working across the lifespan of paediatrics, adults and older adults providing occupational therapy services, both within a private practice setting and within the public sector.
Essie is passionate about working with children and their families, focusing on development of skills that work towards their meaningful goals. She values supporting children and their families to engage in valued activities of daily living and everyday routines, while being creative and playful in her approach. Specific areas where Essie has supported families include toileting skill development, increasing ease with transitions, and supporting preparedness fornew everyday tasks and experiences i.e., getting blood tests.
Essie actively considers the child’s sensory processing skills and regulation support needs when exploring their participation and engagement in daily activities. Essie maintains an individualised approach to service provision, ensuring that she supports children and their families to identify goals that are meaningful and purposeful to them.
Outside of work, Essie enjoys travelling. A fun fact about her is that she has visited 11 countries!
