Occupational Therapy Services

Paediatric Occupational Therapists (OT’s) work with children and their families to support their participation in their everyday activities. We look at these 3 keys areas of a child’s daily occupations:

Self-care skills - supporting the child’s ability to engage in their everyday routines, toileting, dressing, mealtimes, and showering/bathing.

Play and leisure - supporting the child’s participation in meaningful and enjoyable play and leisure activities, such as pretend play, collaborative play with other children, leisure and sporting activities.

Skills for childcare, kinder and/or school - supporting the child’s fine motor skill development (including drawing, handwriting, cutting, typing), access and participation to their environment, for example climbing, riding a bike, access to playground equipment, and skills within the classroom such as following the routine, focusing for engagement in set activities, as well as organising themselves and their belongings.
